Narratives are the backbone for every scientific discourse. In a narrative, arguments are interconnected and arranged as a stringent argumentation structure. It’s hard to handle such argumentation structures for computer systems. That’s why the Institute for Informationsystems (IfIS) has developed a conceptual model to represent narratives in a formal manner, handable for computer systems. A first service based on this model is currently under development.

In this context, our colleague Hermann Kroll from the Institute for Information Systems presented his current research activities at the 39th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER). This took place virtually from November 3rd to 6th  2020. The  presentation “Modeling Narrative Structures in Logical Overlays on Top of Knowledge Repositories” is available as videos (Summary / long Talk) for interested parties.
